Volunteer Pledge
As a member of the Raleigh Campaign Team, I chose to take an active
part in a grassroots campaign that will focus on the issues. I agree to
the following “Raleigh’s Rules of the Road:”
- The incumbent has served in public office for over three decades.
His service deserves our respect.
- The village of Green Island is off limits to all campaigning.
- I will not engage in any questionable activities that would bring
discredit to this campaign. Prohibited activities include, but are not
limited to, the following;
- destroying or defacing an opponent’s campaign signs
- production of fraudulent campaign materials and dissemination
of such materials by any means to include email, fax, mail or flyer
- “push-polling”
- heckling an opponent and/or his or her supporters at any campaign
event
- any activity that could fall under the rubric of “dirty
tricks.”
- Letters to the Editor should note that the writer is a Raleigh Volunteer
and focus on why the writer supports the candidate. Likewise, should
volunteers call in to local talk radio, they should mention –
up front – that they are involved in the campaign.
- The rules concerning campaign donations are nonnegotiable.
- Campaign signs will not be placed anywhere without the permission
of homeowner, business owner, or – in the case of public spaces
– permission of the appropriate municipal official or in compliance
with local rules.
- The tone of the campaign will be positive; discussions will be issue-based.
Those with opposing views should be treated with respect. We will try
to find middle ground on important issues, and bridge the Blue-Red /
Liberal-Conservative / Democrat-Republican divides.
- As a volunteer, I have ownership in this campaign. I can raise any
matter related to the issues on which we run, or campaign strategy,
to the candidate and his staff. I am obligated to bring to the candidate’s
attention any activity that I find unwise, questionable, or problematic.
- “Winning at all costs” is a slogan that has no place in
this campaign.
- I work on this campaign in the interest of good government, and because
I believe in the importance of the issues we address.
In addition, I understand that federal postal regulations prohibit placing campaign material in mail boxes.
I look forward to working on this campaign, and taking an active part
in my government. |
